1. Installing CheckoutGuard
Follow these steps to install CheckoutGuard on your Wix store:
Go to the Wix App Market and search for CheckoutGuard
Click Add to Site and select your Wix site
Click Agree & Add to accept the permissions
Once installed, CheckoutGuard appears in your dashboard under Apps
Click Open to launch the CheckoutGuard dashboard
CheckoutGuard requires an active Wix Stores (ecommerce) installation on your site, since it works directly on your checkout flow. If you don't have Wix Stores set up, install it first from the App Market before adding CheckoutGuard.
2. Starting Your Free Trial
CheckoutGuard is a single plan Premium app with a 14-day free trial there's no separate free tier with limited features, so every rule type is available from day one.
Open the CheckoutGuard dashboard and check the Your Plan card at the top of the Rules tab
If you haven't used your trial yet, click Start Your Free Trial
Your plan badge shows Free Trial, Pro, Trial Available, or No Active Plan, along with days remaining while a trial is active
If your trial ends before you upgrade, your rules aren't deleted they simply stop being enforced at checkout until you upgrade to Pro
3. Setting a Geo Restriction Rule
Geo Restriction blocks specific products from being purchased when shipping to countries or regions you choose, useful for items with shipping or legal restrictions.
Go to the Rules tab and click Add Rule
Set Rule Type to Geo Restriction
Search and select the products this rule applies to
Search and select the countries or regions to block
Choose a Severity (Warning or Error) and write your Buyer Message
Toggle Active on and click Create Rule
The rule checks the buyer's shipping address, so it fires once they've entered an address at checkout, not just when the product is added to the cart.
4. Setting a Member Only Rule
Member Only requires customers to be logged in as a site member before they can complete checkout. Guests are blocked with your custom message until they register or sign in.
Go to the Rules tab and click Add Rule
Set Rule Type to Member Only
Choose a Severity and write your Buyer Message
Toggle Active on and click Create Rule
This checks the buyer's real Wix member identity, so a guest who has simply filled in their checkout details but isn't logged in, is still treated as a guest.
5. Setting a Time Restriction Rule
Time Restriction blocks or warns on checkout outside the hours you set, on the days you choose.
Go to the Rules tab and click Add Rule
Set Rule Type to Time Restriction
Choose a Timezone from the searchable IANA timezone dropdown
Set your Open Hour and Close Hour
Select any Closed Weekdays
Choose a Severity and write your Buyer Message
Toggle Active on and click Create Rule
Close Hour must be later than Open Hour overnight windows that cross midnight (for example 10 PM to 2 AM) aren't supported yet, so split those into two rules if you need them, or reach out to support for guidance.
6. Setting a Mixed Cart Rule
Mixed Cart flags carts that combine products from two groups you define for example, items that shouldn't be shipped together.
Go to the Rules tab and click Add Rule
Set Rule Type to Mixed Cart
Add a label and select products for Group A
Add a label and select products for Group B
Choose a Severity and write your Buyer Message
Toggle Active on and click Create Rule
A product can't be added to both Group A and Group B on the same rule CheckoutGuard blocks saving a rule configured that way, since it would trigger on a single product by itself.
7. Choosing Warning vs. Error Severity
Every rule has a severity level that controls what happens when it's triggered:
Warning shows your custom message to the buyer but still allows checkout to complete
Error shows your message and blocks the Checkout button until the condition is resolved
Use Warning when you want to inform buyers without stopping a sale, and Error when the condition genuinely shouldn't be allowed to proceed.
8. Editing, Pausing, and Removing Rules
Edit a rule: Open the Rules tab, find the rule, and click Edit
Pause a rule without deleting it: Use the Active toggle next to the rule this can be turned off anytime, even if your trial has ended
Remove a rule: Click Delete next to the rule and confirm this can't be undone
9. Rule Limits
CheckoutGuard supports up to 10 active rules at a time, mixing and matching any of the four rule types. This keeps your rule list easy to manage and keeps checkout evaluation fast. If you need to add an 11th rule, delete or consolidate an existing one first.
10. Troubleshooting Common Issues
A rule isn't blocking or warning at checkout
Confirm the rule is toggled Active
Check your Your Plan card rules only enforce during an active trial or on Pro
Double check the rule's conditions actually match your test order (right country, right products, right time window, right group combination)
My Time Restriction rule fires at the wrong time
Confirm the Timezone selected matches your store's actual operating timezone
Remember overnight windows (Close Hour before Open Hour) aren't supported CheckoutGuard blocks saving that configuration
My Member Only rule isn't blocking guests
Make sure you're testing as an actual logged out guest, not just a guest who filled in checkout details, the rule checks real member login status, not the contact info entered
My Mixed Cart rule fires when only one group's product is in the cart
Check that the same product wasn't accidentally added to both Group A and Group B
Changes aren't showing at checkout
Refresh your browser and retest with a new checkout session
Confirm the rule is saved and shows as Active in the Rules tab
The app isn't appearing in my dashboard
Go to your Wix site dashboard → Apps → Manage Apps
Check that CheckoutGuard is listed and not paused or disabled
If it doesn't appear, reinstall from the Wix App Market
